LUMES

LUMES (2022 White Stag Publishing) is described by the author as, "A book of corrupted memories about growing up in the Sonoran Desert as an Air Force Brat." This poetry collection confronts and examines militaristic violence, nationalism, and the cognitive dissonance of believing differently.

Blurbs:

"In Nichole Goff’s LUMES, you’ll find critical commentary on nationalism; gorgeous wordplay of structure and line; moments of tenderness that turn ominous; and beautiful descriptions of the saguaro-filled desert. At some point you realize that you are wrapped up in a weave of Goff’s making: part American flag, part baby skin, part light. The woman’s body becomes a gun; a tool designed to give life, now a tool that takes it away. Do not enter this book lightly. It will shape the way you look up at the sky." - Kristen E. Nelson, author of The Length of This Gap

"Along, above, within… a home in the desert. That marble-eye gleam of that 'Welcome home, honey' portrait corroded by the shadow of the Blue Angels streaming jet fuel across the frame. We have to make this conversation happen...At the bottom of the cereal box is a tooth, or a rock, or a shoe. Or the code of this book which has already landed on Mars." - Valerie Hsiung, author of YOU & ME FOREVER
